1) Small-cap value
Small public companies that few people follow. Prices can be wrong simply because attention is elsewhere.
2) Special situations
Events that can create mispricings, such as:
- odd-lot tender offers
- liquidations
- mergers and acquisitions
- spin-offs
- tender offers
- and other corporate actions (contingent value rights (CVRs), capital structure changes, and shareholder distributions)
Why this exists
Two reasons.
First, for me.
Writing forces discipline. It makes me test assumptions, write down risks, and avoid fooling myself.
Second, for the people.
I want to connect with others who enjoy reading filings, understanding incentives, and discussing mispricings calmly.
